Thinning
As I begin taking away the foliage I don't want to cut very many limbs in case I may want to utilize them in the future. I usually just observe the tree for a number of days before deciding on a general design. It should be noted that my trees are designed for ME. They may not follow all the strict guidelines the Bonsai experts discuss as what they feel a tree should look like. In fact, if 10 folks look at a tree, there will probably be 10 different ideas for the best design.
